A week ago, AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani had reiterated the need to sign an additional midfielder after acquiring the signatures of Riccardo Montolivo and Bakaye Traore.

New reports now suggest that the Rossoneri are ready to sign a new midfielder who will replace the departing Clarence Seedorf or Mathieu Flamini, whose future is far from certain.

After the rumors which linked Gabi Mudingayi and Seydou Keita to Milan, reports surfacing from France state Milan have turned their attention to the 27 year old Real Madrid midfielder, Lassana Diarra, who was left out of Laurent Blanc’s squad and won’t be contributing to France’s chances of winning Euro 2012.

Reports claim that Galliani has contacted his friend, the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez to verify the feasibility of the deal.

However, rather than Real Madrid’s valuation of the Frenchman , the real obstacle lies in Diarra’s wage demand.

His current annual salary is €4 million and he is unwilling to lower his demands.

In addition, Milan face competition from the Turkish club Galatasaray, who have offered Diarra a hefty annual salary of €5.5 million.
