Reports emanating from Italy suggest that AC Milan have already agreed to a contract with former player Frank Rijkaard to replace Massimilano Allegri.

The Rossoneri continue to struggle after losing to Malaga in the Champions League on Wednesday, leaving the club reeling after their sixth defeat in 11 matches this season.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani spoke to the media after the match and maintained the club’s faith in Allegri: “You always ask the same thing. I am not changing him.”

When Allegri was asked whether he would be on the bench come Saturday’s match against Genoa he replied “you’d have to ask the club. I won’t resign, that isn’t my style.”

The favourite to replace Allegri had been assistant manager Mauro Tassotti, but 7Gold report that Rijkaard already has a deal in place to become the next manager of the club.

The former midfielder made 202 appearances for AC Milan 1988 to 1993 before becoming a manager.

He is currently the manager of Saudi Arabia after previous stays as manager of the Dutch national team, Sparta Rotterdam, Barcelona and Galatasaray.
