Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri admits he expected more from his players after they fell 2-0 to Viktoria Plzen and were eliminated from the Europa League.

The Azzurri needed to make up a huge deficit after losing the first leg 3-0, but that did not happen and Mazzarri wants to see a response from his players come their next match.

“Honestly I expected more,” he told Sky Sport after the match.

“Even if it was not easy to play against them after the result of the first leg. We needed to find a goal to open up the match, maybe with a bit of luck, to put them under pressure.”

“Instead with the result of the first leg they could come at us and control the match. Then with the passage of time we began to let go.”

“Formation? It is a confirmation that we must continue forward with our structure.”

“When we take on a match or a difficult moment the squad has always reacted and worked with great humility. After a difficult time we went to Siena and won which has shown itself to be a tough place to play for everyone.”

“We can only stay at certain levels if we work to the best of our capabilities and we are at top form physically and mentally.”

Need to forget bout both these games and concentrate on getting back to winning ways in the league. Juve r catchable but we also gotta look over r shoulder coz its very close up there. Champions league football is a must next season.
