Dusan Basta has vehemently denied reports stating that he wishes to leave Udinese for Roma at the end of the season.

Nicknamed the ‘blonde fury’ by fans of the Zebrette, the defender reaffirmed his commitment to the Friuli-based club and sought to reassure supporters that he will not be on the move at the end of the season.

Reports had claimed that the Serbian international was so flattered with links to the Giallorossi that he would even “walk to Roma”, but he has quashed these rumours,

“With all due respect to the Giallorossi, I never said that I wanted to leave Udine at the end of the season,” Basta stated.

“I have not issued any statement or interview in the last [few] days and indeed, throughout my career, I have never chosen to speak [about] the market.

“I’m happy in Udine [and] my family and I have everything we need. I’m certainly not thinking about changing jerseys at the end of the season, but [am] only thinking of helping my team to climb as high in the table as possible and maybe even to overtake Roma who is a great team but we have successfully surpassed them in the past two seasons.”

Basta has made 66 appearances for the Zebrette since his arrival from Red Star Belgrade in 2008, and has scored six goals in the process.

I’d hope not. He’s become a key player for Udinese over the past few seasons.
But, wouldn’t be entirely surprised or shocked if he’s playing elsewhere next season. Especially if the rumors begin to pick up steam. Such is the order of things…
