Siena coach Giuseppe Iachini applauded his players for picking up a key victory in their bid to avoid relegation as they defeated Pescara 3-2 on Saturday evening.

The Robur threw away a two goal lead before Innocent Emeghara, January’s star signing, secured the three points with only four minutes remaining.

“We started well in the first half and imposed our tempo as we went ahead 2-0,” Iachini told Sky.

“Then in the second half we had some trouble. After the 2-1 we were scared and that must not happen. After that we did well to take over the match once again and find the victory.”

“I must give a round of applause to my players as they have shown belief in coming back from a position in the standings that was complicated.”

“The January transfer window? In January they said we were already relegated as we were 9 points behind Pescara and we had to rise up in the standings. Several players left and that was compounded by our problems with our sponsors.”

“We tried to bring in players that fit with our formation, while spending very little and attaining results.”

“We still haven’t accomplished anything but we have risen in the standings and can now play for our safety.”

“Will I cheer for Samp tomorrow? I am emotionally invested in Samp and I will always remain a fan.”
