Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero and the club look likely to part ways this summer.

The club is unwilling to extend the player’s contract past 2015, and will sell the Argentine international.

Sampdoria are currently paying the 25-year-old €1.7 million a season, and are happy to unload the shot-stopper when the mercato re-opens.

Romero, who joined Sampdoria in 2011, has expressed his desire to stay with the Ligurian club, but at his current wage-rate the club do not want to increase Romero’s yearly salary.

The Argentine goalkeeper has nine clean sheets in 31 matches this season.

Romero has not been linked with any other clubs, however, before joining Sampdoria from AZ Alkmaar , numerous clubs showed interest in the No. 1.

Roma, Manchester City and Arsenal all inquired about the goalkeeper in 2011 prior to Romero signing with Sampdoria, and all three could once again re-ignite their interest in the player.
