Tevez - JuventusCarlos Tevez is delighted to have joined Juventus claiming it is a dream to be part of the club.

Tevez’s arrival from Premier League side Manchester City spawned a warm reaction from the Juventus faithful as he officially signed for the Old Lady.

Carlos Tevez spoke to Juventus’ official website about becoming a Bianconeri player.

When asked about why he joined Juventus, Tevez said: “First of all, [I] thank you all. I thank you for bringing me here Juventus and Manchester City for the wonderful years they gave me.

“I am aware of the effort that Juve  have done to bring me here. I thank president Agnelli, Marotta and my agents.”

On the idea of the Serie A and italian football, the Argentine continued: “It’s one of the hardest and most beautiful [leagues] in the world.

“I’m happy to be here at Juventus and play in this league, it has always been one of my professional dreams. I have not spoken [to my team team mates], but the pre-season will be important to me to understand this and get used to the rhythms of Italian football.”

Tevez arrived for a flat fee of €9 million that could rise to €12m due to bonuses but it was his new shirt number that really surprised the football world.

The 29-year-old was handed the No.10 shirt which is a shirt that holds a lot of history at Juventus.

Players such as Michel Platini, Liam Brady, Roberto Baggio and of course Alessandro Del Piero have all had their names connected with the coveted jersey.

The former Manchester City man said: “It’s an important responsibility because it is a number that has been worn by champions. The biggest challenge for me is to bring forward and do a great job with Juventus. ”

On the last player to wear it, Del Piero, Tevez said: “He is a person and a player that I greatly respect.  For me it is an honor to wear his own jersey.”

The new No.10 also spoke of his appreciation for the fans.

“I feel the italian supporters are really similar to the Argentinian ones because they really get involved with the club,” he continued.

Upon his arrival in Italy, he was mobbed by over 200 Juventus fans  who waited to get a glimpse of their new signing.

“I was not surprised by the great welcome I received and I know that the Juventus supporters have showed great love and affection from the very beginning.”
