City rivals AC Milan and Inter could be set to battle it out for the transfer of Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.
Despite taking part in the Bundesliga sides’ historic treble winning seasons last term the 26-year-old defensive midfielder found his playing time in Munich restricted after the €40 million arrival of Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao.
With the Champions League holders adding another La Liga midfielder to their ranks this summer in Thiago Alcantara the Brazilians time at Bayern looks set to end with Sky Italia confirming the interest of the Serie A giants.
However, it has also been suggested that any deal for the former Hoffenheim man could be scuppered by the funds needed to secure his signature, as both sides could struggle to match the Bundesliga sides desire to receive around €18m for the midfielder.
Last season the Brazilian international made just 22 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern, including six from the substitutes bench, scoring four times.
