Pablo Osvaldo - RomaManchester City are reported close to finalising a deal with Roma for the transfer of forward Pablo Osvaldo.

Roma have made it clear already that they are more than willing to sell the hot-tempered player after his incident with former coach Aurelio Andreazzoli after last season’s Coppa Italia final, and according to recent reports City will try to capitalize on the situation.

Tuttomercatoweb.com reported on Sunday that the Citizens are ready to pay € 13 million for the 27-year-old Italian international at the time the deal is made, and additional €2m in performance bonuses, thus meeting the Giallorossi’s pricetag €15m on Osvaldo.

In the physical forward, City sees a potential replacement of Carlos Tevez, who signed with Juventus.

Another benefit for Roma in selling the former Espanyol man is that some of the money received could be invested in the pursuit of Manchester United winger Nani, if reports of such intentions prove correct.

Despite his controversies off the field, Osvaldo scored 20 goals in 37 total appearances for the Lupi last season, including becoming the team’s leading goalscorer in Serie A with 16 goals.
