Fabrizio Miccoli PalermoFabrizio Miccoli may yet move to Lecce despite being close to a transfer to Melbourne Victory, according to the Salentini’s chief executive.

Miccoli has been involved in advanced talks with the Australian side, who are rumoured to be able to match his wage demands.

However, he might not miss a chance to move to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione club, of whom he is a known supporter.

“Between Thursday and Friday the Australians were in talks and everyone took it for a done deal,” Antonio Tesoro told tuttolegapro.com.

“Instead, we were able to stay in the race and now we are fully in the running to bring Miccoli to Lecce.”

“We are confident, and next week the decisive meeting to close the deal will take place.”

The 34-year-old striker has been without a club since his contract with Palermo expired on June 30th. Miccoli spent six years at the Sicilian side from 2007 to 2013.
