Gianluigi Lentini has expressed his thoughts on Angelo Ogbonna’s transfer from Torino to Juventus this summer.
The former international winger believes such a transfer shows just how times have changed in Italian football.
“In my day, it would have been impossible for a player like Ogbonna to go from Torino to Juventus,” the former winger told Tuttosport. “There would have been a revolution.
“However, when an important offer arrives then it is important to quickly accept it.
“The economic inequality has surged exponentially since my playing days and football has turned into an industrial event.
“Torino, in later years, have not been able to count on huge funding as to compete at the highest levels. And costs have increased…”
Lentini was once the world’s most expensive player when Milan signed him from Torino for £13 million in 1992.
New Juventus defender Ogbonna cost The Old Lady €13m this summer, with an additional €2m in bonuses.
