Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio may be heading for greener pastures.

The Italian international has found starting time difficult to come by since the emergence of young French midfielder Paul Pogba. Marchisio’s spot in midfield is no longer assured, leading to questions about where he fits in coach Antonio Conte’s plans in the future.

According to Sportmediaset, Marchisio has hinted to a potential move, raising the possibility of asking for a transfer come January if his situation at the club does not improve.

Last season, Marchisio featured in 39 games in all competitions for his club, scoring eight goals and recording seven assists from central midfield.

However, Pogba’s early season form coupled with a knee injury in August has kept Marchisio from starting consistently this season. Pogba played in 38 games in 2012, scoring five goals. The 20-year-old French international has slotted in at midfield alongside Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo.

Marchisio may be the odd man out at Juventus, now. However, Pirlo’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2013/2014 season, leaving the door open for a change in his playing situation soon.

Manchester United has expressed interest in Marchisio in the past. He has played for Juventus since he started his career in 2006. A short loan spell to Empoli has been the only disruption to a tenure spanning the course of more than 200 games for Juventus.

I disagree. The only reason why Marchisio has been left out is because of his injury. When Marchisio was fit he practically always started for Juve.
