Southampton striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo is being linked with an exit from the Saints with Spain the likely destination for the Italian international.

The 27-year-old was shipped out by Roma this past summer for a fee of €15.1 million but has struggled to adapt to the English game despite being managed by Mauricio Pochettino, who coached the Italian international during his time at Espanyol.

According to The Sun, Atletico Madrid are the favourites to acquire the striker despite interest from Inter.

Osvaldo remains a candidate for Cesare Prandelli’s side for next year’s World Cup and the move could help maintain his form going into the tournament.

The striker has made nine appearances for Southampton this season, netting only one time.

This is completely false. Plucked out of thin air. Ridiculous to think Saints would sign a player for big money and then sell them on within a few months! How will Inter or Athletico Madrid afford him exactly? Doesn’t matter who comes in for him, Cortese will tell them to jog on!

  2. 1) They would afford him with what is called money. Clubs outside of England have it despite what Premier League fans believe.

    2) Given that it’s Atletico Madrid and not Athletico Madrid, this comment doesn’t surprise me.

Pedantic. Well done. Not really worth bothering with that, as it’s not an academic essay.

Spanish teams (except the obvious 2) and Italian teams are hardly awash with money at the moment. Correct? Where does this Osvaldo info come from?! Same has been said of Ramirez since the second he turned up!

Could be Afletiko…wouldn’t makea difference… he is only just getting his feet under the table… he will be comfortably in double figures before he leaves for the world cup

I’ll be glad to see the back of him if he goes, he doesn’t fit into our style of play and has been very poor much like Gaston.I’m a coach and I said upon watching Gaston play that he would have trouble fitting in and would need to adapt but he can’t do it.
@Fans who dismiss anything they don’t like to read
If you would pull your empty swollen head from your rear and actually read something you would know that it’s been well documented that Inter and Atletico Madrid are struggling financially and though the cost of Osvaldo may not be the issue it’s matching his huge salary. rumours of a loan deal have been rife but that would not suit saints as we need to find and fund a replacement as I think the bank is closed for this season, unless we are in the top four in january which may loosen the already generous purse strings

Totally agree that he is no good at Saints. Let’s get shot asap!
