Palmeiras have reportedly made Inter defender Jonathan their top target as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the club’s centenary season in 2014.

The Brazilian club finished top of the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B this season to ensure their centenary season will be played in Serie A and are said to have begun planning for life in the top flight.

According to FcInterNews.it, Jonathan has been ear-marked by the Alviverde as their main transfer target as they hope to bring the former Cruzeiro and Santos man back to his home country.

The 27-year-old has impressed this season in ten league appearances and given the faith Walter Mazzarri has shown in him, the Inter coach may be reluctant to sell.

However with new Inter owner Erick Thohir reportedly ready to provide funds for transfers in January, it remains to be seen which players will face increased competition for their places.
