Eusebio Di Francesco’s tenure at the helm of Sassuolo could be at an end after he failed to speak to the media after their Livorno defeat with the club’s sporting director speaking none too positively about his future.

The Neroverdi conceded three goals in the opening 26 minutes of action in Tuscany to leave themselves with a mountain to climb as the Amaranto cut the gap on them at the bottom of the table.

Sporting director Nereo Bonato told Rai Sport after the game: “Given how sensitive a time this is, the club has taken a pause for reflection to analyse the problems of the team.

“We need to understand what we must do going forward and then we will make the right decision straight away. We will evaluate what to do during the night and then will understand whether Di Francesco will still be in charge or not.”

Di Francesco has not always enjoyed the best of relationships with Bonato and this latest loss could be the one to spell the end for him with last year’s Serie B champions.
