With Manchester United manager David Moyes struggling to convince fans that he is the man to continue Sir Alex Ferguson’s trophy laden legacy at Old Trafford, it has been suggested that the reigning Premier League champions could turn to Juventus coach Antonio Conte.

After suffering an embarrassing defeat to Greek side Olympiakos on Tuesday night United officials are also thought to be dissatisfied with the side’s performances that have seen them exit both domestic cup competitions and 11 points away from a Champions League qualification place.

As they continue to assess their options Mediaset have reported that Conte’s renowned hard-line approach with his playing staff, and coaching expertise that have seen him win back-to-back Serie A titles, have seen him identified as a potential replacement by the Old Trafford hierarchy.

Ferguson was famed for his tough stance with underachieving players and the 44-year-old handed his Juventus side a similarly strict punishment recently after conceding two late goals against Hellas Verona, cancelling their usual post-match day off which received notable criticism from former Bianconeri coach Fabio Capello.
