Russia’s Italian coach Fabio Capello said that his side were unfortunate to lose 1-0 away to Austria in a European Championship qualifier.

Capello’s side fell to a Rubin Okotie goal in the 72nd minute and they currently sit third in Group G, five points behind the leaders Austria.

“It was a hard game, obviously we’re not satisfied with the result because we played some good football,” said Capello in his post-match comments according to tuttomercatoweb.com.

“We only made one error and they scored.”

Capello is currently involved in a contract dispute with the Russian Football Association who have failed to pay the former England boss since June and he received much criticism in the country after Russia failed to win a single game at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 68-year-old had insisted before the defeat in Austria that his players wouldn’t be unsettled by the news that the Football Association admitted it cannot afford to pay Capello his estimated €8.75 million per year contract.
