Adriano Galliani AC MilanItalian giants AC Milan look set to cut some players from their roster so they can trim down on players salaries.

Currently there are five Rossoneri players whose contracts will expire in June and another two are on loan deals but it is unlikely that these players will be on the AC Milan roster for the 2015-16 season.

According to Leggo, the five players who are likely to depart are goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, who earns €1 million a season, defenders Daniele Bonera (€1.2m) and Philippe Mexes (€4m), and midfielders Nigel De Jong (€3.5m) and Michael Essien (€2.5m).

Defender Pablo Armero and midfielder Marco van Ginkel are on loan from Udinese and Chelsea respectively and they are both earning €1.5m for the season.

The Rossoneri are hoping that these departures will allow them to spend more money on players when the summer transfer window opens.

AC Milan have had trouble signing Nigel De Jong on a new deal otherwise he would be worth keeping. The rest of the players mentioned need to leave.

Despite his involvement in the goals against Hellas Verona, Mexes should go too. He is not worth €4 million a season and what he did to Lazio’s Stefano Mauri should be the final straw.

I totally agree that Sulley Muntari needs to go. He has a powerful shot but little else. He is reckless in his tackles and they are poorly-timed as well.

AC Milan need to make plenty of changes but bringing back Ancelotti is not the answer because coaches usually fail in the second stint at a club. Sacchi and Capello struggled when they returned and I would expect Ancelotti to suffer the same fate if Silvio Berlusconi is not willing to buy world-class players.
