Barcelona’s Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano was literally ‘on-hand’ to help his goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen save a crucial spot kick during last night’s Champions League tie with Manchester City.

As international team mate Sergio Aguero settled himself to take the penalty, television images show the former Liverpool player clearly point the way that his goalkeeper should dive to save the shot, which he ultimately did.

Aguero may now wish to keep his penalty shooting technique to himself should the two meet up during any future Argentina squad get-togethers.

I LOVE it! I’m a keeper as well and I’ve had my players do the same thing for me. State tourney, defense concedes a pen and my captain said dive to your right, he can’t hit it to your left. The two players were club teammates and he was right. I made an easy save and we ended up winning 3-1. Every little bit helps!!!
