After a 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Wednesday evening, Sampdoria defender Lorenzo De Silvestri feels his side deserved more than a point.

The Blucerchiati defender was able grab himself the opening goal of the match in the second half, only to have it cancelled out just three minutes later by Verona man Luca Toni.

“If one looks at how the match went, the point may be fine, but we deserved to win,” De Silvestri told Sky Sport.

“This year we have struggled to score goals, but we are always in the match. Our goal is to take it one step at a time and look to the future with confidence.

“It is hard to pinpoint the blame in the team. We have to improve and we have to prove ourselves in these last five games [of the season].”
