AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has praised veteran defender Daniele Bonera after the play reached 200 official appearances for Milan.

The 33-year-old first joined the Rossoneri in 2006 from Parma and since then has appeared in at least ten games every season.

Milan Channel reported that Galliani gave a brief speech about Bonera’s time at Milan.

“In 2006 it was the year of the famous Calciopoli,” said Galliani. “We had to play preliminaries for the Champions League against Red Star and it was then I thought to go get Bonera, who was already in a retreat with Parma.”

Galliani continued his speech, noting his disappointment that Bonera was actually ineligible for the games against Red Star.

“It was a Friday afternoon in late July and I had to take a train to the capital of Emilia and close the deal to buy him. Then we realized that he was disqualified in the UEFA competitions and that he could not play against Red Star, but that’s another story we will tell separately.”

The Milan CEO then finished by remembering Bonera’s first Serie A game with the Rossoneri.

“He had his first game in early September, coincidentally against Parma, where we were won 2-0 thanks to Seedorf and Kaka. Congratulations, from my heart for these 200 games and full speed ahead.”

Despite this impressive haul of appearances for Milan, Bonera has yet to score for his club.
