De-RossiItaly midfielder Daniele De Rossi and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon have left the Azzurri side ahead of their international friendly against Portugal due to injury, adding to the side’s current injury crisis.

The 31-year-old midfielder was forced to miss the Azzurri’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Croatia in Split, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw, and despite training with his teammates at Coverciano the national team’s medical staff has opted to send the player home.

As a result he will miss Italy’s high profile friendly against Portugal in Geneva on Tuesday.

Buffon has also left the squad after suffering a serious cut to his knee that forced him off at half-time against Croatia, an injury that resulted in 10 stitches to close the wound.

The duo join Lorenzo Di Silvestri who has already been ruled out after suffering a serious knee injury against Croatia that will force him to miss the next six to eight months.

Marco Verratti was also ruled out earlier this week due to a calf injury.

No replacements have been named to the Italy squad by coach Antonio Conte as of yet.
