Cesare Prandelli - ItalySince the departure of Rafael Benitez to Real Madrid, Napoli have been scrambling to appoint a new coach for the upcoming season.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis was recently rebuffed by Sevilla coach Unai Emery, and would now have turned his sights on former Italy national team coach Cesare Prandelli.

According to reports however, Prandelli has yet to respond affirmatively to the rumours linking him with the Napoli job.

“It does not depend on me,” Prandelli said to Corriere del Mezzogiorno.

In the meantime, the Italian media have also reported that Napoli would be considering alternatives to Prandelli, with former Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri — who recently resigned — and former Schalke coach Roberto Di Matteo in the shortlist.

After leaving the Azzurri following the 2014 World Cup fiasco, Prandelli had since been at Galatasaray. His unsuccessful spell in Turkey would however see him sacked 147 days into his two-year contract.
