Inter coach Roberto Mancini has confessed that he is still hopeful of bringing Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure to Italy, although he admits that he currently has no idea if the move going to happen.

Ever since Mancini returned to the Nerazzurri in November, the Ivorian has been tipped with a move away from the Etihad Stadium in order to join back up with his former coach but despite continued talk of a transfer, progress appears to have stagnated.

“I spent six months trying to convince him, and explaining to him what he would find should he join Inter,” Mancini explained to the Daily Mirror.

“Then he went to go speak to his club [about leaving].

“However I haven’t heard anything from him since, and I’m yet to understand his side of events.

“In spite of this I’ll continue to remain optimistic.”

Mancini spent three years with Toure at City, having bought the 32-year-old from from Barcelona in 2010.

  1. Forgive me for my ignorance, but when a player is under contract for a further 2 years, if one club (Inter) want to buy a plater from the other club (City’) you have to make an offer for transfer which first has to be accepted by the selling club BEFORE. You have discussions with the player.
Inter are skint, they haven’t made an offer if you interpret the story correctly, and it looks like they are stirring the pot to get Toure to make trouble in order to obtain him on a free transfer.
City should complain to UEFA about “tapping up”. I hate Italian football and the slimy, bent parasites who run the game. If you want Toure, make an acceptable offer to City and then you can talk to the player instead of talking to him illegally. Parasites.
