Leicester City have beaten Schalke to the signing of Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler, with the English Premier League side expected to complete the deal on Friday.
The 31-year-old has been a wanted man this summer and was also previously a reported target for West Ham United, however the Switzerland international has elected to join Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester project.
Inler, will join the Foxes for an initial €7 million that could rise by a further €2 million depending on bonuses, according to Sky Sport Italia and will undergo his medical before the weekend.
The central midfielder has spent the last eight seasons plying his trade in Serie A with the time split equally between Udinese and the Partenopei.
During this time he has made in excess of 250 Serie A appearances and twice won the Coppa Italia with Napoli.
