The 25-year-old, who only joined the Rossoneri from Premier League side Liverpool last month, was reportedly caught travelling at 90 kilometres per hour in an area that only had a speed limit of 40 kph.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have confirmed that the Italian international will avoid punishment from the club on this occasion, despite them previously implementing a number of strict rules in his contract that the controversial forward must follow.

Despite avoiding internal punishment, Balotelli is still waiting notice from the local authorities as to whether he will receive a fine or a temporary driving ban.

It has also been reported that the striker was instantly apologetic upon his arrest and stated that he was unaware of any structured speed limit.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t notice the speed limit,” Balotelli allegedly told police officers.

The striker could reappear for the Diavolo against his former side Inter on Sunday, after already making his first appearance since rejoining during a 3-2 friendly win over Mantova.
