Atalanta LazioLazio defender Dusan Basta feels as though the Biancocelesti were unlucky to lose in their midweek Serie A fixture with Atalanta.

The Serb scored a calamitous own goal to draw the Orobici level after a superb Lucas Biglia free-kick had given the visitors the lead before a late Alejandro Gomez strike sealed the points for the hosts.

Speaking to LaLaziosiamonoi.it about the game, Basta admitted his frustration with the loss but was keen to take positives from the match.

“We played a good first half, but our attitude was perfect throughout the entire game,” the full-back began.

“I thought we were managing the occasion well,” he added.

“We are unhappy to return home with a defeat, which, in my opinion, is not deserved.”

The 31-year-old continued to state the importance of the unity in the squad, while not overlooking the significance of Lucas Biglia’s return.

“Biglia’s return is obviously important, he is a big player for us,” he said.

“However, the most important thing is the squad.

“We are a very close group and that is important when players are missing through injury.

“We have done well lately, winning a lot of matches despite our injury problems.

“Lazio are a strong team, we are very competitive.”
