Lazio v Rosenborg- Preview : Biancocelesti aim to rediscover form against Norwegians

Lazio vs Saint-Etienne: UEFA Europa LeagueLazio host Norwegian side Rosenborg in Group G of the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Sitting atop Group G, Lazio hope to put the disappointment of Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Sassuolo and return to the form in which the Biancocelesti rattled off four victories.

Rosenborg will be looking to continue to build on the draw they secured this past weekend, adding to their lead over second place Stromsgodset in Tippeligaen action.

Lazio have been impressive so far in their European campaign, earning four points from two matches and are currently tied for the lead. The Biancocelesti began the group with a draw against Ukrainian side Dnipro. Following up their draw with, Lazio managed a come-from-behind victory against French side Saint-Etienne.

Rosenborg managed to earn a point against Saint-Etienne in the opening round of the group stage. Following up their draw, was a 1-0 loss to co-leaders Dnipro.

This will be the first ever meeting between the two sides. Rosenborg are currently undefeated on the road this year, but will be looking for just their second ever victory on Italian soil. Their only victory in 14 tries came in the 1996-97 Champions League group stage against AC Milan.

Lazio have lost only once in their last 13 matches at home in European competition going back to 2013-14.

Lazio coach Stefano Pioli will be without a whole host of key members when they take the pitch on Thursday evening. Stefan de Vrij, Marco Parolo, Keita Blade Diao, Filip Djordjevic and captain Lucas Biglia will miss the match due to injury.

The lone injury for Rosenborg boss Kare Ingebrigtsen is teenage striker Andreas Helmersen who had played a small role in the Norwegian side’s Europa League qualification until rupturing a crucial ligament in his knee.
