Sassuolo SampdoriaSassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco was delighted with his team’s performance during their 3-1 win over Sampdoria.

The Neroverdi scored three goals in the first half as they swept away a dismal Doria side, although the youthful tactician has since stated that they must be patient and not get carried away with their recent good form.

“For me these games are not easy but in the first hour we were really extraordinary.” Di Francesco told the press.

“I do not like that we conceded late on.We are a small club with a few players from Italy, we have no tradition like Sampdoria. We just want to take this season game by game and see what happens.

“I am ambitious, as are the team. We need to put pressure on ourselves but at the same time we can not think too big. Balance is important in these cases.”

Di Francesco also praised the performance of 18-year-old Lorenzo Pellegrini and also said new coach Vincenzo Montella would improve Sampdoria’s performances eventually.

“We do not talk too much about him because we want to keep his feet on the ground,” Di Francesco added. “Sassuolo invested a lot to sign him because he is a player with a lot of potential.

“He can play in different positions but I see him mainly as a midfielder.

“Montella came up against a great Sassuolo and they are still building. It will take a lot of work but eventually Vincenzo will get there. ”

Sassuolo now sit in sixth place in the Serie A league table, with a total of 26 points.
