De Jong - AC MilanAC Milan have rejected an approach from Torino for Dutch international Nigel De Jong, despite placing the player on the transfer market.

The 31-year-old defensive midfielder has become a peripheral figure since Sinisa Mihajlovic took over as coach in the summer and the Rossoneri are looking to offload De Jong in order to create funds to purchase other midfielders.

According to La Stampa, the Granata are intending to get rid of Swedish midfielder Alexander Farnerud and want De Jong to replace him, but AC Milan are reportedly reluctant to sell him to the Turin outfit.

The Diavolo have recently been linked with the signing of midfielders such as Axel Witsel from Zenit St Petersburg, Ever Banega from Sevilla, Marouane Fellaini from Manchester United and Roberto Soriano from Sampdoria, but they do intend to sell before making any further additions this month.

De Jong has made just five Serie A appearances this season and he has not played in the league since he was sent-off in the 1-1 draw at home to Hellas Verona.
