Rossi FiorentinaGiuseppe Rossi is edging closer to a return to Spain with Levante after representing Villarreal between 2007 and 2013.

An agreement is reportedly in place between Fiorentina and the La Liga club although the Viola are just waiting for Mauro Zarate’s from West Ham United to be made official before giving the green light.

According to FirenzeViola.it, Rossi is on the cusp of joining Levante on loan and Les Granotes will have the right to make the move permanent for €6 million after sporting director Daniele Prade met the player’s agent Andrea Pastorello at Fiorentina’s offices.

Villarreal are then expected to make a move to take Rossi back to the Estadio El Madrigal in the summer.

The Gigliati are still entertaining the possibility that the American-born forward has a possibility in Tuscany after including a clause to bring him back for €1.5m.

Rossi failed to score in the 2015-16 Serie A season from 11 appearances although he did net two from four in the Europa League.

The striker also met fans as he left the club’s training ground.

“I still can’t say anything but I’m sorry,” said Rossi.

“I’m really sorry, I just hope that this is a temporary goodbye.”

Levante are currently bottom of La Liga and three points off safety.
