Martin Caceres - JuventusJuventus defender Martin Caceres will miss the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon during the Bianconeri’s 1-0 win over Genoa on Wednesday night.

The Uruguayan was forced off on a stretcher after 63 minutes following a clash with Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti and further  diagnosis confirmed the rupture of the Achilles tendon, requiring six to eight months of recovery time.

“The player will have surgery tomorrow,” read a statement on Juventus’ official website.

Caceres’ injury leaves coach Massimiliano Allegri with one less option going into a crucial period in February which will see the Old Lady play Napoli and Bayern Munich to take their Scudetto and Champions League hopes further.

The former Sevilla defender, who featured in just six Serie A games this campaign, may have played his last match with the Turin giants as his contract expires in June.
