giaccheriniBologna could be waving goodbye to one of their most influential players come the end of the season as the future of key man Emanuele Giaccherini looks increasingly uncertain, with a return to Sunderland on the cards.

The former Juventus midfielder is currently on loan from the Black Cats, though without the option to make the deal permanent, Bologna may have a hard task on their hands in convincing the English side to let Giaccherini stay.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb.com, Sunderland are eager to listen to other offers for the player and will likely sell to the highest bidder.

Since his arrival in the summer, the 30-year-old has scored six goals, firing Roberto Donadoni’s side up the Serie A table, whilst attracting a large amount of interest from abroad.

This could leave the Felsenei in a uncomfortable situation as they may not be able to match up with the financial power of other clubs throughout Europe.
