Filippo Inzaghi AC MilanSassuolo are considering making an approach for former AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi, should current coach Eusebio Di Francesco part ways in the summer.

Di Francesco is under contract until the end of next season, but is attracting a lot of attention, in particular from the Rossoneri, forcing Sassuolo to line up potential replacements.

According to Calcionews24.com, Sassuolo owner Giorgio Squinzi, a Milan fan, has put Inzaghi at the top of the list of candidates to replace Di Francesco if he does leave.

Sassuolo reportedly first approached Inzaghi two and a half years ago when Di Francesco was originally relieved of his duties, before the later was eventually reinstalled as coach, leading the club to Serie A safety.

Inzaghi, then working with Milan’s Primavera side, chose to stay with Milan after being promised an eventual position as first-team coach, but is now thought to be awaiting an offer to get back into coaching following his sacking last year.

Other names in the running for the Neroverdi hot seat include Chievo coach Rolando Maran, Lazio‘s Stefano Pioli and EmpoliMarco Giampaolo, though Inzaghi remains the top choice.
