Bologna TorinoBologna faltered at the death in a 1-0 defeat to Torino at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in their Saturday afternoon Serie A meeting.

The Rossoblu came close when they hit the woodwork, but Andrea Belotti netted a late penalty to claim all three points for Torino.

The visiting side had the better of the early exchanges, striker Josef Martinez having an effort saved by Antonio Mirante; with Mario Oikonomu unable to reach the rebound. Giuseppe Vives then tried his luck with a low-driven effort, but again Mirante was there to parry the shot away.

After half time the hosts brought on Juan Camilo Zuniga who had an instant impact, turning the Torino defenders one way an another before realising a fierce shot that Daniele Padelli saved. The opening goal seemed to be coming closer and closer, Emanuele Giacherini hitting the post after getting the better of Kamil Glik.

Andrea Belotti missed one final opportunity in open play and Martinez too dragged his shot wide, but a late penalty was awarded when Domenico Maietta was adjudged to have dragged Belotti to the ground. The 22 year-old striker stroked his penalty into the bottom corner to send the away support ballistic.

The result takes Torino up above Genoa to 10th in the Serie A standings, while Bologna remain in 13th with their place in Serie A safe and secure.
