donadoniBologna coach Roberto Donadoni believes his side are afraid to lose after their crushing 6-0 defeat to Napoli.

Manolo Gabbiadini bagged a brace, Dries Mertens a hat-trick and David Lopez added a sixth in a dismal outing for the visitors, and Donadini has admitted that their performance was substandard.

“We were inferior in all areas of the field and we know that it’s a heavy defeat,” Donadoni told Sky Sport Italia. “We must reflect upon this performance and see how we can respond.

“In order to avoid relegation it all depends on us, if we approach each game in the right way and are not intimidated by our opponents.”

Donadoni has experience when it comes to facing Napoli, only last season his Parma side managed a 2-2 draw against the Partneopei, and the Italian tactician has since praised the Gialloblu for their recent promotion to Lega Pro.

“I’m happy to hear of Parma’s promotion to Lega Pro, they deserve what they have achieved and I hope it continues,” he continued.

“We are playing like a team that is afraid to lose, we have a chance to turn things around quickly and simply have to seize it.”

Bologna remain 13th in the Serie A standings, level with Atalanta on 37 points and still threatened by relegation.
