AS Roma - BolognaRoma were held to a 1-1 draw by Bologna in Serie A at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Monday evening.

The Rossoblu took a surprise lead through Luca Rossettini while Mohamed Salah responded for the hosts shortly after the break but the Giallorossi failed to build on their equaliser.

The hosts were all guns blazing from kick off, a sweet strike from Iago Falque required tipping over the bar by Antonio Mirante. Stephan El Shaarawy, who has been in sparkling form for the capital club, had the ball in the back of the net, but was offside after Mirante made the initial save. Mohamed Salah was then denied by the post, with Miralem Pjanic unable to knock in the rebound.

After a fearsome start for the home side it seemed fitting Bologna would take the lead. An excellent delivery into the box from Juan Camilo Zuniga was met by Luca Rossettini, who rose highest to beat Wojciech Szczesny in the Roma goal. Salah was again denied by the post when Pjanic found him in the box, and a third time after the restart when his powerful strike crashed into the left-hand post.

Francesco Totti had entered the field at half time and had an instant impact, setting up Salah who finally scored at the fourth time of asking; finishing low beyond the reach of Mirante. Totti then came close with a goal of his own, forcing Mirante into pushing his powerful effort out for a corner much to the dismay of Roma fans.

Bologna had one final chance to take the lead again, substitute defender Erick Puglar shooting just over the bar. Edin Dzeko came on and almost won it for Roma, but the Bosnian hit his driven effort wide of the post. Perotti had one last attempt, but the Argentine couldn’t provide the all important finish.
