BrocchiAC Milan coach Cristian Brocchi has lamented his team’s lack of desire after they lost 3-1 to Roma on Saturday night.

This defeat now means the Rossoneri will conclude the Serie A season outside of the domestic top six, sitting four points adrift of Sassuolo, and a massive 34 points behind Scudetto holders, Juventus.

“We faced a great team today and they are playing some beautiful football,” said Brocchi to Premium Sport. “Yet we gave nothing in terms of desire and fight.

“We had prepared for the whole week to try to avoid the goals Roma scored, but we looked naive today, especially for the second goal. ”

Brocchi was also asked about the forthcoming Coppa Italia final against Juventus, saying that although his team must get in the right frame of mind, Milan must also be prepared tactically.

“The psychological aspect is important, but when you get to prepare for a final, the coach can work on the psychology as much as possible, but if you do not have it tactically you can not win,” he added.

“My hope is that each player rises to the occasion and shows their best. Some have never played in a final, that will spur them on, the desire to lift a trophy.

“This week every player has to work on himself and understand the importance of the final.”
