Watford have announced the appointment of former Inter and Napoli as their new coach on a three year contract.

Quique Sanchez Flores’ departure from the club earlier in May meant that the Hornets were looking for a new tactician to take over ahead of next season in the Premier League, and they have settled on Mazzarri.

“Walter has been the target of a number of approaches for his services, so we’re delighted to secure him as head coach here at Watford,” Hornets’ CEO Scott Duxbury said of Mazzarri’s appointment

“We’re thoroughly looking forward to working with such a highly-regarded coach, with the progress and development of the club always remaining the highest priority.”

Mazzarri, who has been out of a job since leaving Inter back in 2014, has been living in England for six months in an attempt to learn the native tongue.

There will now be three Italian coaches in the Premier League ahead of the new season, with Antonio Conte joining Chelsea in July as well as Claudio Ranieri being in charge of champions Leicester City.
