AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate is unsure if Milan will be sold this summer but believes that Silvio Berlusconi should remain with the club.

The Rossoneri are going through hard times with limited transfer funds due to the prolonged takeover talks, but Abate believes that there is no need for concern over managerial issues.

“We don’t know if [Silvio] Berlusconi will sell the club. I feel sorry that [Adriano] Galliani has his hands tied in the market,” Abate told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’d like Berlusconi to remain; I grew up in this club with him and Galliani, and Berlusconi surely knows how to make surprises.

“If the club gets sold, the new owners should be clear on goals and explain the strategy.”

The experienced defender was also asked about Milan chances for the upcoming season.

“This is not a bad team,” he said. “We have moral and technical values and this group cannot stay out of European competitions.”
