Juventus are preparing a new contract for defender Leonardo Bonucci.

The 29-year-old’s performances as part of the so-called ‘BBC’ at the back for Italy at Euro 2016, along with Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini, caught they eye of many, and Juventus have reportedly already declined an offer from Barcelona while the player’s agent travelled to Manchester to discuss possible terms.

According to Premium Sport, however, the English Premier League side may have to give up on their attempts to secure Bonucci’s services as the Bianconeri are hoping to complete a contract renewal with him, worth up to €6 million per year.

This new salary would make the Italian the highest paid player in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad, earning even more than hotly-discussed Paul Pogba.
