The Argentine international has already rejected a huge offer from an interested Chinese party, while Arsenal were considering a bid were him, as were fellow English Premier League club West Ham United, and Juventus also attempted to convince him to leave.

“I would like to point out three things: Higuain is quiet, he has never said he will go away,” Lombardo said from the squad’s pre-season training.

“Secondly, there is no statement from Juventus that they are interested in Higuain.

“Thirdly, [Napoli president Aurelio] De Laurentiis has always said that Higuain is not for sale, he is not for sale. It is all transfer market rumours fuelled by the press.”

Higuain scored 36 goals for Napoli last season which crowned him Capocannoniere, as no other player scored more than 20.

De Laurentiis was recently prepared to make sure the 28-year-old remains in Naples by offering him a new contract, despite earlier claims that he will leave in 2018.
