Manuel Locatelli has joined Juventus from Sassuolo on loan deal with an obligation to be bought outright after meeting certain objectives, ahead of Juventus kicking off their 2021/22 season away to Udinese on Sunday.

The 23-year-old had been linked with I Bianconeri for several weeks and rejected a move to Arsenal in the English Premier League, and now the midfielder will be at his third Serie A club after playing for AC Milan and I Neroverdi.

“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that it has reached an agreement with the club U.S. Sassuolo Calcio for the free acquisition, on a temporary basis until 30 June 2023, of the registration rights of the player Manuel Locatelli,” said a statement on the official club website.

“The agreement provides for the obligation on the part of Juventus to acquire the player’s sports performance on a definitive basis upon the achievement of certain sporting objectives during the 2022/2023 season.

“The agreed consideration for the definitive acquisition is €25 million, payable in three financial years. In addition, cumulative bonuses of up to €12.5m are envisaged upon the achievement of further sporting objectives.”
