Today’s highlights…

Fabio Borini’s fantastic individual campaign last year with Roma has not gone unnoticed and sporting director Walter Sabbatini that Liverpool are interested in signing the striker.

One transfer out of Italy that has been confirmed is Werder Bremen’s capture of Juventus winger Eljero Elia who has been unveiled by the German club today after a frustrating spell in Turin.

One player who will not be leaving the Bianconeri if he gets his way is striker Fabio Quagliarella who is desperate to prove he has a lot to offer Juve fans after a frustrating season spent mostly on the sidelines.

Winger Jorge Martinez has been told that he can now look for a new club and they are also unlikely to sign Marcelo Estigarribia.

It also seems as though Milan’s attempts to bring Liverpool duo Alberto Aquilani and Andy Carroll in on loan deals have come up short with manager Brendan Rodgers keen to give every player a chance to prove their worth.

In our last round-up it was reported that Juventus are keeping tabs on Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic but the Viola’s sporting director Daniele Prade has slapped a €30m price tag on the player in an attempt to keep interested parties at bay.

Fiorentina are looking to strengthen themselves though as they are pondering a move for Palermo goalkeeper and lifelong fan Emiliano Viviano who is extremely keen for the move to materialise.

One player who the Tuscan club are not as keen on signing anymore is Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh with the player’s wage demands having scuppered the deal from going through.

Following his release from Vincenzo Montella’s men, veteran defender Cesare Natali is hoping to secure a switch to former club Bologna.

Inter are keen on continuing the revitalisation of their squad having reportedly bid €8.5m for Corinthians starlet Paulinho.

However, they are set to face stiff competition from Manchester United if they are to make a move for Brazilian trequartista Lucas who has attracted much interest from Europe.

The Nerazzurri are also unlikely to sell Giampaolo Pazzini back to Sampdoria but the Blucerchiati are now offering Catania striker Maxi Lopez a way out of the club he is keen to leave.

In a transfer story that continues to rumble on, hot prospect Marco Verratti is expected to complete his move to Paris Saint Germain this week.

Udinese’s Czech Republic striker Matej Vydra has joined Gianfranco Zola’s Watford on a season long loan in a bid to put last year’s disappointing injury-ravaged campaign behind him.

Genoa defender Jose Manuel Flores has swapped the peninsula for the Premier League having joined Swansea on a three year deal.

However, they have moved quickly to replace him as they are the favourites to secure the signing of Michele Canini from Cagliari.

Torino are also looking to strengthen in the defensive department as they are hoping to add free agent Damiano Ferronetti to their ranks following his release from Udinese.

The Granata are also close to completing the signing of Milan defender Djamel Mesbah as their busy mercato continues with Cesare Bovo also on their radar.

Napoli defender Gianluca Grava has signed a new contract with the club for another season after his current deal was set to expire at the end of the season.

Adrian Mutu wants a move away from Cesena after the club’s relegation last season while they have already lost midfielder Giuseppe Colucci to Pescara who have taken their place in Serie A.

  1. Russ Contini says:

It seems to have been an excellent market for Juve so far, lots of activity. I can’t wait to see how Asamoah and Giovinco get on especially and getting money back on the likes of Elia and Melo is helpful.

Marotta has spent wisely getting a lot of talent in for a relatively small outlay but I worry that he is too tight for his own good sometimes. He seems to think he is Moggi at times and can use his “charms” to force deals on his terms, unfortunately he is not in that league. It has cost us in the past with the likes of Rossi and may have done again if PSG manage to sign Veratti.

Serie A’s biggest problem this summer is PSG, they are taking all of Italy’s best talent and must be stopped somehow
