Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has told club captain Fabrizio Miccoli ‘it’s best he leave’ after becoming entangled in a Mafia investigation.

Miccoli is under investigation after purchasing four SIM card’s, one of which was given to the son of a Mafia boss.

“What has happened to Miccoli is proof that it’s best he leave Palermo,” Zamparini told Radio Radio.

“Now he certainly needs a change of scenery and he can go to Dubai where he has some offers. I don’t know the situation , but unfortunately he couldn’t have known that his friend was the son of a Mafioso.”

The 33-year-old will be out of a contract this summer as his contract with the Rosanero expires, but judging by Zamparini’s latest comments, it looks as though he will no longer feature for the Sicilian side.
