Inter playmaker Mateo Kovacic has reportedly established contact with Bayer Leverkusen.

Kovacic has been constantly linked to a move away from Inter since the start of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool had chased the young playmaker, only for the Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini to then pour cold water on his proposed Premier League switch.

The player’s entourage would have met with emissaries from the Bundesliga club in Milan, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

In spite of the Mancini backing the 21-year-old’s stay, the Croatian’s agent Nikky Vuksan blasted the Inter coach for failing to get the best out of the Inter starlet and denied all knowledge of the reported Liverpool bid.

Kovacic himself reaffirmed his agent’s words by expressing his full commitment to staying at Inter. The young Nerazzurri midfielder made 35 Serie A appearances last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
