Cristiano Ronaldo is a step closer to leaving Juventus after his agent, Jorge Mendes, landed in Turin with interest growing from English champions Manchester City.

Ronaldo is keen to leave Serie A in search of a new experience, with Pep Guardiola’s team emerging as front-runners for the superstar, 36.

The Portuguese forward was benched for the opening Serie A fixture of the season – a 2-2 draw against Udinese – after apparently asking to be left out amidst growing speculation about his future.

Mendes’ job will be to convince I Bianconeri to let the wantaway forward leave for free, although Juventus want at least €29 million for him, according to Tuttosport.

A possible solution comes in the form of Gabriel Jesus, the Brazilian touted as a makeweight to force Juventus into accepting the fact that Ronaldo wants out.

Pep Guardiola wants the deal pushed through as soon as possible after Harry Kane announced on Wednesday that he will remain at Tottenham, thus destroying City’s plans to tempt the English striker away from London, and could even get his way before the weekend.
